In order to generate an accurate visualization of the data that needed to be represented, multiple sources of data were aggregated to generate an effective and accurate display of stock performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Below are the names of the resources used to create this project.

Yahoo Finance

Yahoo Finance provided the data of stock market prices that was aggregated in the visualized data. The data of the following Stocks were used in generating the data:

The selection of the stocks above were selected by noting the 5 stocks in each GICS sector with the most weight on the S&P 500.

The data captured a 4 year time period of performance for each of these stocks from June 21st, 2016 to June 21st, 2021, even though the data visualization only analyzes data starting from August 1st, 2019

Wikipedia

This Wikipedia article noted the GICS sector that each stock listed on the S&P 500 was associated with. This was combined with rankings on stocks with the greatest weight on the S&P 500 to select the stocks in the list above.

This website by MSCI gave a list of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) structure or organization and provides insight into how the stock market is organized. The Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS®)

A list provided by slickcharts.com listed the S&P 500 Companies by Weight, which assisted in sorting through the highest weighted stocks in each sector when combined with the Wikipedia article from above S&P 500 Companies by Weight
